Japan boasts the largest and most diverse economy in Asia, and is second only to the U.S. on the world’s economic stage. Over the years, wine has seen a slow but gradual increase in consumption and continues to show signs of future growth. This growth can be attributed to the Japanese consumers' increased overall knowledge of wine, as well as an elevated interest in the sophistication associated with wine in Japan. Japanese consumers are fairly health-conscious when it comes to food and drink, and wines are no different. Many consumers look for wines that have a health orientation, whether it is fruit-based, organic or additive-free wine.
