Thailand is the second-largest economy in southeast Asia, and consumer-oriented food imports grew 36% from 2006 to 2007. U.S. exporters shipped $210 million in consumer-oriented foods to Thailand in 2007, and it represents the 19th largest export market for U.S. agricultural products. The retail market accounts for more than 70% of total food spending, and the growing tourism industry has increased the number of retail outlets in the country.
